SCHEHERAZADE · KARI KRIIKKU

ARABIAN NIGHTS

Finnish composer Kimmo Hakola’s Clarinet Concerto stamps its mark in the genre with modernity and rambunctious energy, laying out arresting rhythms and themes – including the dance celebrations of a Yiddish wedding  – that cannot help but grab attention. Described as a roaring success for the composer, the concerto will see its Singapore premiere by acclaimed Finnish clarinettist Kari Kriiku and promises to be a wild ride. Rimsky-Korsakov’s interpretation of the Arabian Nights, the popular Scheherazade suite, completes the evening’s delights for the senses.

‘The most remarkable clarinettist of our times’- Leipziger Allmanach
